FIRSTLY WHAT IS BIOPLASTIC ?
By definition -
Bioplastics are plastic materials produced from renewable biomass sources, such as vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, recycled food waste, etc. Bioplastic can be made from agricultural by-products and also from used plastics by using microorganisms.
Alternatives such as bioplastic can have a major positve impact on the environment as they are decomposable. The bioplatic material is unlike the existing non-biodegrable packaging materials such as synthetic plastic , polysterene and nylon etc , that are the leading causes of pollution and cause significant environmental damage.
Plastic pollution causes harm to humans, animals and plants through toxic pollutants. It can take hundreds or even thousands of years for plastic to break down so the environmental damage is long-lasting
